Frequently Asked Questions
24 GOOD DEEDSÂ is an Advent Calendar which collects donations for social and ecological projects. Behind each little calendar door you will find a genuine project. Each project is made possible with one donation. For example, a cocoa plant for a small farmer in El Salvador, or a meal for a child in Nepal.
For a donation of 24 Euro or more, we sent out the Advent Calendar as a proof of donation.
The Advent Calendar is a charitable initiative by the organization 24GoodDeeds e.V. The organization was founded in 2011. Our office is in Berlin. The seat of the organisation is in DĂĽsseldorf.
In total, 24 projects in the areas of health, education, nutrition, infrastructure and environment will be financed thanks to your donation. By opening one door of the calendar each day, you can find out what your donation is used for and whom you are helping. Additional information on each project is available on our website.
24 GOOD DEEDS supports the fundraising of charitable organizations with a donation-based Advent Calendar. Donors give 24 Euro or more for the calendar and enable 24 social and ecological projects, which are selected yearly by 24 GOOD DEEDS. The calendar donations are then transferred to the partner organizations which implement the good deeds locally.
All organizations describe a good deed in the calendar which can be implemented for 0.75 Euro. Your donation supports the implementation of the good deeds as well as the production of the calendar and the work of our organization.
Along with the rigorous selection process, we verify how the donations are used through the following mechanisms. We sign a contract with each organization which commits to providing a detailed outline about the implementation of the good deed. All participating organization are required to document the implementation process via reports, photos and other supporting documentation. Our own organization is also committed to transparency. Every year we produce an annual report detailing our activities and how funds are used.Â
In 2010 Sebastian Wehkamp had the idea when we was struck by the realization that people like to donate to a good cause but that donations are often made as a result of a guilty conscience when donors are confronted with pictures that arouse pity rather than understanding how their donations make an actual difference.
Consequently, he set out to make the donation process more fun but which also provides reassurance that donations serve a meaningful purpose. That’s how the idea for 24 GOOD DEEDS came about. With the calendar, you support 24 projects with a single donation and behind each calendar door, you find out what exactly will be achieved with your donation.
With the 24 GOOD DEEDS calendar, we want to support organizations financially which are engaged worldwide with social justice and environmental protection. Furthermore, we want the calendar to create awareness about global challenges and encourage more social engagement.
24 GOOD DEEDS is financed fully through donations. 75% of the donated funds for the calendar are transferred to the participating organizations to implement good deeds. 25% of the donated funds are used to produce the calendar and to fund the work of our organization.
For individuals, the calendar can be given as a gift to friends and family. Or, you can order one for yourself to enjoy the pleasure of the calendar during the advent season.
For companies, the calendar makes for a more meaningful gift for your clients and partners than the usual corporate giveaways.
Schools can order the calendar, and teachers can use the calendar to guide their in-class instruction with detailed information packs on the projects and countries involved. We provide a special registration process for teachers to access this information.
